Llancaeach Junior School Writing Squad with Claire Fayers

What a glorious talented bunch of students at Llancaeach Junior School!
Today was a fantastical writing squad session for a group of year 5/6s kicked off with a whole class assembly by fantasy and mythological author Claire Fayers. After a whistle stop tour of her life, from moustached literary geniuses to an overworked horse, the great takeaways were:
1. Anyone from anywhere can write
2. It takes an awful lot of people to publish a book.
Afterwards eleven students with an interest in creative writing spent the morning working with Claire to write their own fantasy stories. Colourful lands with toxic mushrooms were created, angels and dreams fell from the heavens, deadly challenges were set, and in a magic trick gone wrong a magician conjured a giant carnivorous rabbit with a penchant for teenagers. Suffice to say, along with Claire’s box of magical props there wasn’t a dull moment.
